EPM is a program offered to practicing musicians who wish to enhance their overall musicianship while developing their ability to communicate in English for the purpose of future study and/or potential international performing careers. 

Students enrolled on EPM will study general English and receive one-on-one instrumental lessons with the resident faculty of Tianjin Juilliard. In addition, if spaces are available, there may be opportunities for EPM students to perform with the Tianjin Juilliard Orchestra throughout the year.

The overall aim of the EPM program is to assist students to be more confident and able to communicate comfortably with others in the musical community such as music faculty, staff and peers in orchestra. The program focuses on development of students' social and professional English interaction, with a focus on conversation and listening. The program also introduces students to some basic academic skills and basic musical vocabulary and concepts in English.

The EPM program will NOT train students how to improve their scores on the IELTS or TOEFL exams or administer practice tests related to these exams. If students are interested in this, they must pursue such study independently and outside of the EPM program, on their own time and at their own cost.

Cost of Living

In addition to tuition costs listed above, we have provided estimated costs for living expenses in Tianjin, including the cost of housing and health insurance. Please note that these are estimates provided for planning purposes only and are subject to change for the 2023-2024 academic year.
