Overview
The Tianjin Juilliard Vocal Institute aims to create a unique ecosystem in which practitioners, students and aficionados of the vocal arts can learn, appreciate and promote the art form from grassroots to professional levels in China. The well-rounded and modular program design provides a customized learning experience with leading experts of the vocal field in The Tianjin Juilliard School’s state-of-the-art facilities.
Objectives
- To provide advanced training to performing singers and teaching professionals through performance opportunities and international resource of experts
- To build a professional nexus connecting vocal artists, collaborative pianists and other industry professionals
- To stimulate fresh musical creations that showcase vocal talents and generate greater public interest in the vocal arts in China
Who Should Apply
The vocal institute program is designed for:
- Undergraduate and graduate voice students wishing to improve through expert training not easily accessible to them
- Students preparing for MM or DMA auditions abroad
- Professional singers, collaborative pianists or teachers working in an institution and wishing to upskill
Offerings
Participants will be able to expand their knowledge and prepare themselves more fully for upcoming performances, auditions or general upskilling, through an intensive training course that will include:
- Coachings with master coaches
- Coachings with coaches
- Voice/Collaborative Piano lessons with master teachers
- Diction classes
- Yoga for singers
- Special lectures on a variety of topics such as anatomy for singers, history of singing, great singers and historical recordings, history of costumes, Fach system
- Opera Workshop
- Performance practicums
2024 Winter Session
The 2024 Winter Session will take place from December 7 to 8, 2024. The theme of the winter session is “Exploring the Infinite Possibilities of Vocal Art” with Martin Katz.
Fees
Singer
Fee: 3,680 RMB/Session
Collaborative Pianist
Fee: 3,680 RMB/Session
Auditor
Fee: 1,280 RMB/Session; 680 RMB/Day
One-One Instruction
Master Voice Lesson: 2,000 RMB
Master Coaching: 1,800 RMB
Diction Coaching: 1,000 RMB
Junior Coaching: 900 RMB
*Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation.
*Applicants who are not admitted as performing participants may register separately for one-on-one lessons.
How to Apply
- Complete the Application Form
- Submit the Application Fee
- Application deadline: November 17, 2024
- Audition results: November 24, 2024
- Your application will ONLY be considered complete upon receipt of both the application form and the application fee.
- Singers: Please provide one video recording of an art song or operatic aria in Italian, English, German or French. The video file must be clearly labelled with your name and title of the work, and can be uploaded to Baidu cloud and copy the link into the required field of Application Form.
- Collaborative Pianist: Please submit a video of a performance with a singer.
- Auditors: There is no need to submit any video recordings. Please fill in the Application Form, and select "Auditor" under "Category".
There is a non-refundable application fee of 200 RMB. Acceptance will be based on review of the materials submitted and is subject to availability of spots in the program. If an application is not accepted as performing participant, the applicant will automatically be admitted as an auditor.
