Tianjin Juilliard’s Public Education offers enriching and immersive music-themed camp experiences to primary and middle school children. The summer and winter camps integrate various forms of the performing arts, exercise and physical activities, and hands-on learning experiences to nurture well-rounded, creative, and curious students. 

Taking place from January 20 to 24, 2025, The Tianjin Juilliard Music Winter Camp is is about to launch again, offering children aged 8 to 12 a delightful winter music journey filled with surprises. This session of the winter camp will focus on the theme of "Theater and Opera".

During the five-day camp, professional teachers and artists from Tianjin Juilliard will be passionately involved in teaching, providing children with an immersive international music education experience. Each camper will explore vocal, instrumental, and physical expressions, culminating in a unique winter opera performance.

This winter camp will feature new interactive experiences in music and performance. Children will not only participate in instrumental lessons, children's choir, music literacy, performance, and dance classes, but they will also enjoy special educational concerts, receive professional guidance in instruments and vocal training, and ultimately perform on the Tianjin Juilliard stage, showcasing the results of their artistic explorations.
 

1.    Exploring the Theme of "Theater and Opera"

This winter camp will use opera as an artistic expression that integrates music, literature, dance, and performance. Through high-level vocal and instrumental guidance, students will expand their artistic understanding and expressiveness in multiple dimensions and present their learning outcomes in the final performance.

2.    Experienced Faculty Team Accredited by Tianjin Juilliard

Professional teachers and performers from Tianjin Juilliard will serve as the instructional team for this winter camp, guiding students in music as course instructors, conductors, and one-on-one mentors. They will present special concerts and lecture activities, providing students with an authentic Juilliard music learning experience.

3.    World-class Environment and Facilities

Campers will  engage in activities, create music, rehearse, and perform in various spaces within the Tianjin Juilliard School’s world-renowned campus and performing arts facilities.  

4.    Up-Close Access to Concerts and Stage

Campers will step into Tianjin Juilliard’s concert hall to watch a special educational performance by professional artists, experiencing the beauty of high-level chamber music. Additionally, they will have the unique opportunity to perform on stage themselves, participating in instrumental ensembles, choir, and theater performances. This hands-on experience within an authentic concert atmosphere helps them gain valuable performance skills and fosters a lifelong love for music.
 

The 2025 Winter Camp includes the following activities:  

• Instrument Exploration: Get up close and personal with various instruments under the guidance of professional performers, expanding knowledge of the world of instruments and sparking interest in different types of instruments.  
• Vocal Exploration: Learn classical vocal techniques, including posture, breathing, resonance, and articulation methods, experiencing the artistic charm of vocal expression.  
• Chorus: Participate in choir rehearsals and perform at the final concert, enhancing singing skills and focus while fostering teamwork awareness. 
• Drama and Dance: Explore the expression of physical language through drama and dance activities, experiencing the integration of music and movement and trying out improvisational performance.  
• Music Literacy: Learn fundamental music knowledge, understand the origins and developments of opera and musical theatre, and enhance overall music cultural literacy.  
• Educational Concerts: Enjoy special music concert performances by professional artists, immersing in the fusion of chamber music and vocal performance and broadening artistic perspectives.  
• One-on-One Lessons(Optional): This camp offers specialized one-on-one instruction in voice, piano, violin, viola, cello, harp, oboe, clarinet, and trombone, helping students achieve significant professional development.
   

This winter camp will provide parents with the opportunity to observe educational concerts, student chorus concerts, and campus tours.

Day camp: ¥9,480 per person;

Boarding camp: ¥12,680 per person.

Optional Content:  

• One-on-One Instrument Lessons: 1,000 RMB/60 minutes per session (each camper may choose up to two sessions; applicants must have at least two years of music learning experience).  
• One-on-One Vocal Lessons: 500 RMB/30 minutes per session (each camper may choose up to two sessions).  
   

Please note:

1. Day camp includes daily lunch, t-shirt, and other relevant materials, 
2. Boarding camp includes extra accommodation, breakfast and dinner, transportation within Tianjin, after-class activities, camper life management, and safety assurance services during the 5 days.
3. Applications before November 30, 2024 can enjoy RMB 800 early-bird discount.
4. All campers will receive a participation certificate.
