The Tianjin Juilliard School announces three new appointments to the faculty roster in the 2024-25 academic year. Tarn Travers will join the Graduate Studies violin faculty. Travers has been with Tianjin Juilliard’s Pre-College faculty since 2021.

Tianjin Juilliard celebrates a major milestone with the establishment of the Pre-College Orchestra and the appointment of Kin Szeto as its inaugural conductor. Maestro Szeto's vision and track record in shaping young orchestras, will help build a tradition of orchestral excellence at Tianjin Juilliard Pre-College.

Juilliard’s Chair of Ear Training and faculty member of the music theory department, Wayne Oquin, will take up a one-year residency at Tianjin Juilliard in the 2024-25 academic year. In addition to teaching core courses at the Tianjin campus, Oquin will offer mentorship and professional training workshops to both Graduate and Pre-College classroom faculty. Opportunities for working with and learning from faculty are at the heart of Juilliard’s commitment to excellence.

We are thrilled to welcome exciting additions to our exceptional faculty roster in both Graduate Studies and Pre-College. We congratulate Tarn, an esteemed educator and performer on his expanded role. The wonderful orchestral culture that we have developed in the Graduate Studies program has been a source of pride and inspiration. We are beyond excited to see this culture extended into Pre-College with Maestro Szeto at the helm. We are also delighted that Dr. Oquin will be joining us for a one-year residency. His rich experience will help enhance classroom offerings for our students.
