Suyan Cui graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music with a bachelor's and master’s degree in cello performance. She was a former cello teacher in the Art Department of Ocean University of China. She is a member of the Cello Society of the Chinese Musicians Association, member of the Cello Expert Committee of the Shandong Musicians Association, and a judge of the Hummingbird Music Competition.
In 2000, Cui was admitted to the Cello major of the Orchestra Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, and studied under Professor Yu Mingqing. During her school years, she won multiple scholarships and won the first place in the cello competition at the 2006 "China International Great Wall Summer Camp." In addition, as a member of the "Qingdao MF Modern Chamber Group", she was awarded the honor of First prize in the "Shanghai Spring - International Music Festival Chamber Music Competition" in May 2009.
In 2007, she joined the Art Department of Ocean University of China as a professional cello faculty. During over 10 years of teaching, her students have been admitted to renowned Conservatories including the Central Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, The Tianjin Juilliard School, and The Juilliard School.
