Public EducationMusic Development Program – Harp, Instrumental Exploration

Tongxin Chen, a passionate harpist, educator, and arranger, holds a master’s degree from The Tianjin Juilliard School under the tutelage of Li-Ya Huang. Chen completed her undergraduate studies at Xinghai Conservatory of Music, guided by harpist Rui Zhou.

An experienced orchestral harpist, Chen has  collaborated with numerous professional orchestras and conductors throughout China and abroad, including the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Macao Orchestra, Ningbo Symphony Orchestra, Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, China National Traditional Orchestra, China National Opera House Symphony Orchestra, Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, Uzbekistan National Opera Symphony Orchestra, Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra, Chengdu Symphony Orchestra, and more. Additionally, she has served as the principal harpist of the Tianjin Juilliard Orchestra and the Xinghai Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra.

Beyond orchestral work, Chen is deeply passionate about solo and chamber music performance. From 2019 to 2022, she was supported by Xinghai Conservatory’s "Talent Training Program," during which she presented five solo recitals featuring a diverse range of styles, showcasing the harp’s rich expressiveness and her ability to convey complex emotions through her performances. In 2021, she and her flute duo partner won third place in the ensemble category of the Hong Kong International Harp Competition.

In 2023-24, she was appointed as a music theory assistant for the Pre-College program at The Tianjin Juilliard School, teaching students aged 8-18.
