Born and raised in Hong Kong, Vicky Yinyu Lam’s artistry has graced stages worldwide at prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall, the Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall, and Shenzhen Concert Hall. She has performed at the Shanghai Music Exhibition, Hong Kong Culture Centre, and many other venues. Her performances have been praised at international competitions, including the Busoni International Piano Competition, Maria Canal International Piano Competition, and Steinway & Sons International Piano Competition. Lam was appointed as the Pearl River Kayserburg Artist, where she arranged and performed Chinese music, such as Defend the Yellow River, on five pianos at various venues in China. Her repertoire encompasses an extensive range, including solo and chamber music.
Lam was awarded The Arthur Rubinstein Prize and graduated from The Juilliard School with master's and bachelor's degrees in Piano Performance under the mentorship of Jerome Lowenthal. Lam was granted several teaching fellowships and teaching assistantships from the music theory and analysis, ear training and secondary piano departments during her graduate studies at The Juilliard School. In addition to majoring in music, Lam also studied Psychology at Columbia University. Prior to college, Lam studied at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), where she studied with Amelia Chan. She further honed her skills at the Manhattan School of Music, guided by André-Michel Schub. After graduating from The Juilliard School, she was offered full scholarships and teaching fellowships from The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for Doctor of Musical Arts, and The University of Oxford for Master of Philosophy. Lam decided to pursue her doctoral study at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Meanwhile, she is faculty in the pre-college and public education division at The Tianjin Juilliard School.
