43. When do I become an official alum and how does it happen?
As part of the checkout process, you will swap your TJS ID for an alumni card. This signals your status change. This card will grant you certain access to the building and will entitle you to several discounts. Click here for the complete list of alumni benefits.
44. Will I keep my existing Tianjin Juilliard email address?
No. Alumni will be assigned a new email address with the format firstname.lastname@alumni.tianjinjuilliard.edu.cn. Your emails from the old email account will be migrated to a new email account within a week after commencement. Your previous email conversations in the mailbox folders will still exist, but all future correspondence will be from your alumni's email address. You will be notified before this happens. If anyone emails your previous email address, it will automatically be forward to your alumni email. Currently, there are no alumni email accounts provided for PC students.
45. Can I use the practice rooms after commencement?
Unfortunately, we’re unable to accommodate alumni requests to utilize the on-campus practice rooms.
46. I am still in Tianjin after commencement and need a place to practice. What should I do?
If you have special circumstances and require access to school facilities such as practice rooms, (for example, you are continuing to take auditions or preparing upcoming performances/competitions), you may contact alumni@tianjinjuilliard.edu.cn to apply for permission.
47. What should I do if I need access to specialty instruments during this time?
If you need access to specialty instruments or facilities such as percussion, harp, double bass, contrabassoon, or reed room, you must consult the relevant studio faculty and obtain approval first and then fill out the instrument loan form available from Performance and Venues Operation. School Instrument Loan Process. Please note that requests must be made at least 2 days in advance by contacting alumni@tianjinjuilliard.edu.cn.
48. Who could I contact regarding making some audition recordings at the school?
Please email your request to alumni@tianjinjuilliard.edu.cn.
49. Do I still have access to the building?
Yes, but your alumni card will only allow you to access public spaces that are open to any community member, including Juilliard Imagination, lobby, and Tianjin Juilliard Store. As an alum, you can only go to the upper floors if you make an appointment with staff or faculty. Once you make an appointment, that TJS staff/faculty member must notify the facilities of your appointment, so you can exchange your TJS alumni card for a temporary alumni visitor card during your visit. This card will only allow access to the elevators. It will not provide you with access to practice rooms, rehearsal rooms, or offices.
50. Do I still have access to the library and any digital resources in the library?
The library has provided the following information about accessing the library after graduation:
- JuilCat online catalog – The library’s online catalog is open to anyone with an internet connection.
- To access The Tianjin Juilliard library, please request an appointment by emailing library@tianjinjuilliard.edu.cn
- JuilCat Plus Digital Resources (e.g., Henle, Berlin Phil Digital Concert Hall) are accessible only during this appointment when a librarian will enable onsite access to the library’s digital resources at the library. No library materials can be checked out.
51. What expires after graduation and how to prepare?
Once your student status is removed, i.e., your email address has been converted to an alumni email, you will not be able to use these services: WIFI,Cisco AnyConnect, printing service, Microsoft Office 365, Asimut, Canvas, Cadence, TJS Myhub and the anti-virus software Avast. For graduate students, you will receive a graduation preparation steps email from TJS IT Helpdesk before this happens.
52. How do I request transcripts and degree verification?
The Registrar’s Office has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide transcripts, enrollment verifications, and degree verifications for current students and alumni. Please read the information below:
You will receive an unofficial transcript from the Tianjin Juilliard Registrar’s Office after commencement. However, you can order an official transcript online through the Juilliard website via the National Student Clearinghouse. To do so, please click here.
For PC students, you can download an unofficial transcript on Cadence or reach out to Kathy.Tong@tianjinjuilliard.edu.cn and get the official transcripts.
53. How do I get my diploma/transcripts translated into Chinese?
If an employer requires your Juilliard diploma to be translated into Chinese and notarized, then you will require the services of a professional translation/notary agency according to the needs from your workplace or school. The closest one to the school is TEDA Notary Public Office of Tianjin China(天津市泰达公证处).

54. How do I request enrollment verification?
You may request a letter of enrollment by emailing registrar@tianjinjuilliard.edu.cn.

55. How do I request a non-criminal record?
This is only required for international students who work inside China. You will receive your non-criminal record after the commencement.
