Performance Activities Coordinator, Pre-College
Reports to Assistant Dean of Pre-College
The position of Performance Coordinator of Pre-College works a Tuesday-Saturday work week during the academic year (September-May), and a Monday-Friday work week during the summer months (June-August).
Responsibilities:
Performance Activities Administration
- Implements policies and requirements for performance activities in consultation with Associate Dean and Assistant Dean
- Prepares and manages all performance-related correspondence for students, parents, faculty, and various TJS departments
- Oversees the creation of all programs and concert materials
- Creates the Pre-College Concert Calendar and maintains the divisional performance archive
- Responsible for the contracts and payment of guest artists, working closely with Finance and Legal Affairs departments
- With Assistant Dean, coordinates budgeting needs for performance activities
Event Management
- Responsible for coordinating all divisional performances, master classes, and competitions, including stage management, ushers, piano technicians, recording team, and streaming services, when required.
- Coordinates the Piano Performance Forum, in collaboration with faculty advisor
- For competitions, communication with faculty, conductors, judges, students, piano technicians; creates schedule and cuts; and day-of running of the event
- Provides translation at events, when necessary
General Administration
- Coordinates part-time faculty/staff, and graduate student mentors, including hiring procedures, contract preparation, and monthly payroll, working closely with Human Resources, Legal Affairs, and Grad Studies departments.
- Coordinates details of annual performance juries, working with faculty to determine instrumental requirements
- As a member of the PC administration, collaborates with other team members to support day-to-day operations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with strong background/experience in administrative area and working with expatriates
- Excellent oral and written Chinese, TEM 8 equivalency for English
- Good communication skill, with professional manner and patience in dealing with parents and children
- Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to communicate with Pre-College students, parents, and faculty
- Background in classical music strongly preferred
- Embraces creative ways of approaching challenges
