The safety and well-being of our Tianjin Juilliard students, faculty, and staff continues to be the top priority for The Tianjin Juilliard School leadership. Currently, there are no COVID-19 cases among our Tianjin Juilliard community members. We are continuing to monitor the evolving situation to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our community and mitigate potential risks. As a global institution, we are committed to overcoming the challenges together. Our thoughts are with those who have been affected by the outbreak around the world.

Ongoing Activities

  • Tianjin Juilliard Pre-College will offer online lessons and classes for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester, which has been extended to June 27, 2020. This includes instrumental lessons through the Public Education Division. The Community Youth Chorus has been suspended for the Spring 2020 semester and will resume in Fall 2020.

  • The Pre-College admissions process for Fall 2020 entry continues to select new students to join the program. The admission process is continuing smoothly, despite the impact of COVID-19. Applicants will submit final audition recordings instead of attending a live audition.

  • Some regional auditions including those scheduled to take place in New York and Asia in March were cancelled. Applicants will complete their auditions remotely via video recordings. Late applications are still being accepted in certain instruments. Please contact the Office of Admissions for more details.

  • Tianjin Juilliard Ensemble concerts planned for in Tianjin and Beijing in April are postponed until further notice.

Travel Restrictions and General Guidelines

The Tianjin Juilliard School is following the recommendations and measures for prevention and control of COVID-19 including travel restrictions, as provided by the Government of Tianjin Municipality and the Tianjin Municipality Education Commission as well as The Juilliard School in New York. In addition, The Juilliard School and The Tianjin Juilliard School are closely monitoring the updates issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) as well as international travel restrictions in place by airlines and countries.

Communications

Apart from the public community updates, we remain in contact with all of our students, faculty, and staff through multiple platforms including email, video conferencing, online meetings, and more. We are in constant communication with our Pre-College students and their families to notify them on updates and dates pertaining to their academic schedules. Our Office of Admissions is communicating closely with our applicants to outline the process for fulfilling application and audition requirements in light of these circumstances.

Reopening of Administrative Offices

On April 8, 2020, our administrative offices in Binhai began a gradual reopening process. This decision was made in consultation with our government partners and occurred only after the necessary reopening approvals were met.
