TIANJIN, CHINA  - Tianjin Juilliard announces the inaugural Tianjin Juilliard Strings Symposium, taking place over three days from Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27 at The Tianjin Juilliard School. This year’s Symposium will focus on violin and viola, to establish an ecosystem for students and industry pedagogues to network, learn, promote, and elevate the level of strings playing.

Participants from diverse backgrounds will come together to engage in lessons, master classes, and performances, fostering a collaborative environment for skill enhancement and professional growth. Through interactive sessions and performances, attendees will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, refine techniques, and forge connections with international string instrumentalists, laying the foundation for future collaborations and advancements in the field. 

The three-day symposium features a distinguished roster of artist-faculty including Ju-Young Baek, Jehye Lee, Pei Li, Weigang Li, Zhou Qian, Tarn Travers, and Angelo Xiang Yu for violin; and Hanna Lee, Honggang Li, Li Sheng, and Shaowu Wang for viola. Participants can expect a range of offerings including individual lessons tailored to their skill level, enriching master classes, and captivating performances showcasing both emerging talents and seasoned professionals.

The Symposium is now open to applicants in three categories: participants ages12-17, participants ages 18-28, and auditors. Full scholarship is available for accepted participants ages 18 to 28, including room and board. More information on the Tianjin Juilliard Strings Symposium is available here.
