Li Sheng currently serves as viola professor and the head of the joint department of Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He previously held positions as a visiting viola professor at the Royal College of Music (2019-2021) and an artist-in-residence at the Curtis Institute of Music (2019).  

In recent years, his students have won top prizes in the international competitions, including first places in Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition in 2013, New York Young Concert Artists (YCA) in 2014, Washington International String Music Competition in 2015, and the Muravev International String Music Competition in Russia in 2016.  

Sheng has received several teaching awards including Shanghai May Day Labor Medal, Shanghai Gardener Award, He Luting Foundation Award (Special Prize), Shanghai Literature and Art Outstanding Teacher Award, First Prize of the Principal Award at the Affiliated Middle School of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and the Tang Junyuan Outstanding Teacher Special Award in Shanghai.
