Audio Video Specialist

Audio Video Specialist

The A/V Specialist will be a crucial addition to the existing team of Performance Activities. The A/V Specialist will take an active part in the execution of Tianjin Juilliard School’s audio and video captures, livestream, and special events, as well as the post-production, with an emphasis on video operation and editing.

 

Responsibilities:

Concert and Studio Production

  • Work closely with other members of the recording team in large ensemble concerts with high-quality audiovisual production, including operating cameras (manually operated and robotic PTZ), controllers, and switchers in multi-camera performance captures and livestream
  • Assist with live-streaming capabilities for concert broadcasting
  • Operate A/V equipment during recording sessions as needed
  • Other duties might include but not limit to set-up, testing and adjusting the equipment during rehearsals, functioning as a sound technician, videographer, and lighting technician during concerts
  • Perform related duties, as assigned, to support school and department operations

Daily Operations

  • Edit audio and video recordings of Recitals, Concerts and special events for archival purposes, educational use, and public release
  • Archive all TJS recordings on or off campus and deliver the final productions
  • Troubleshoot video and audio equipment as needed
  • Assist in the development and production of various audio and video materials
  • Provide audiovisual technical support for various departments
  • Support Pre-College Saturday activities as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in audio engineering, video production, or other relevant area of study. 
  • Two or more years AV and/or technical experience in performance video capture and editing or equivalent.
  • Background in music required; Ability to read music and follow a score preferred.
  • Knowledge of video technology, signal types, recording CODECs, file formats and transcoding, data ingest, and metadata management.
  • Ability to execute all steps of post-production, including color correction, implementing notes/feedback, adding graphic elements, and delivery.
  • Experience with industry-standard video workstation software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Experience with relevant production equipment such as Panasonic switchers, controllers, and Sony cameras, etc., or equivalent.
  • Experience in engineering in support of live and streaming production.
  • Willingness and capacity to work extended hours, nights, and weekends as needed based on performance schedules and content deadlines.

Library Assistant

The Tianjin-Juilliard Library Assistant works closely with the TJS Library Director and the staff of the Juilliard Library in New York. Responsibilities include overseeing physical processing of library materials when they arrive from New York or from China-based vendors; managing circulation activities using Sierra Library system; assisting Library Director with reference and public services; overseeing shelving of materials and reading room maintenance; training and overseeing work of library student assistants.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Tianjin-Juilliard Library Director and the library staff in New York to oversee physical processing of library materials, library circulation, and reading room maintenance
  • Working with Library Director, adapts Juilliard Library circulation policies to serve the needs of the Tianjin-Juilliard community
  • Trains and oversees work of student assistants 
  • Assists Library Director with reference, public services, and information literacy work
  • Assists Library Director with development of library as “Academic Commons,” working closely with TJS IT team
  • Assists the Tianjin Library Director with Mandarin/English translation as necessary  
  • Assists the Tianjin Library Director with other tasks as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Bi-lingual fluency in English and Mandarin is required.  
  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in music, from an accredited institution of higher education.  
  • Prior experience in an academic library, preferably in circulation or technical services. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, innovative thinking, technological vision, strong service orientation, energy, enthusiasm, and demonstrated ability to work well with others.  
  • Must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and work successfully with all constituencies of the School. 
  • Good project management and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated experience using a personal computer and office software such as MS Office.  Experience with an integrated library system preferred.  
  • Understanding of and commitment to EDIB (equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging) and the mission of The Tianjin Juilliard School. 
  • The final candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check.

Communications Supervisor

The Tianjin Juilliard School seeks a communications Supervisor to bring Juilliard’s mission to a global audience through building a strong media presence in China and beyond. As a new educational institution, Tianjin Juilliard is the first performing arts institution in China to confer a U.S.-accredited Master of Music (MM) degree. Tianjin Juilliard’s content is focused primarily on music education and performance. This Tianjin-based position is responsible for carrying out effective communications with the media, building strong relationships with Chinese media and increasing audience engagement through social media, effectively supporting the school’s growing recruitment and admissions operations, public performances on campus and beyond, community engagement, and partnership efforts. This individual will strengthen the school’s brand by assisting in Chinese media outreach, publicity planning, and implementation. Consistent communication and collaboration with colleagues from both New York and Tianjin campuses will be critical to the success of this position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in creative planning of public relations initiatives and create media plans
  • Execution of media relations strategies and related media initiatives
  • Assist the Director of Communications in handling external Chinese media projects, and effectively sort out, expand and manage the media resources
  • Assist in the operations of the school’s official Chinese “We Media”, such as WeChat and Weibo, and overseas “We Media” platforms
  • Track the latest Chinese media trends, news monitoring, public engagement, and industry perspectives
  • Create and deliver regular media reports in a timely manner
  • Collect relevant data and market research of peer institutions
  • Develop media lists and analysis of target media 
  • Assist in media crisis management

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above; major in English, Journalism, or Communications and/or overseas postgraduate degrees are preferred
  • Relevant work experience of 3-5 years
  • Demonstrated experience in social media operations and/or experience in music education would be preferred

Student Development Office Coordinator

The Student Development Office Coordinator works closely with all departments within the Office to support all activities and functions relevant to student life and student development. These may include assistance with Residence Life, Career Services, Student Services and general office administrative duties. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Development and supports the intra-departmental coordination of programs and events, implementation of initiatives and projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Director of Residence Life with management of the Tianjin Juilliard Residence Hall, intra-office administrative tasks, duty rotation, implementation of Residence procedures and protocols
  • Assists in department-wide large-scale projects including but not limited to student orientation and graduation
  • Assists and supports Student Services, Wellness and Residence Life programming and operations
  • Answer general questions from students and help students access campus resources when appropriate
  • Assist with general administration in the Office of Student Development including but not limited to reimbursement and contract processing 
  • Supports the Director of Career Service, Outreach and Alumni in various outreach activities, community and/or business meetings, committees and task forces as appropriate  
  • Assists with Mandarin/English translation for departmental needs as appropriate
  • Assists with maintenance of contents on student development pages of the TJS website and TJS intranet
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Student Development

 

Qualifications:
