Overview

Tianjin Juilliard’s Public Education offers enriching and immersive music-themed camp experiences to primary and middle school children. The summer and winter camps integrate various forms of the performing arts, outdoor sports and activities, and hands-on learning experiences to nurture well-rounded, creative, and curious students.

Activities

The specific curriculum for each camp varies. Sample courses may include:

  • Music Essentials Singing Class

Music Essentials is a comprehensive methodology for children to learn music in a fun and engaging way through experiential based lessons and activities. Students will learn age-appropriate songs and vocal exercises to help develop their voices.

  • Music Essentials Music Literacy Skills

Music skills training provides kinesthetic, visual, aural and cognitive experiences using traditional music and movement from a variety of world cultures. Children utilize music to express their emotions, develop self-confidence and a sense of self. Students will make mind-body connections through movements and learn about rhythm inductively. Multi-cultural singing games, dancing, rhythmic patterns, ostinato play, body percussion, and percussion instruments are introduced to learn about rhythm.

  • Music Discovery

Music Discovery is a program that introduces students to exciting music from around the world through lessons, activities and interactions. It covers a variety of themes and concepts illustrating how music connects us to many aspects of our lives and to communities and cultures around the world. It provides the opportunity to empathize with composers and compositions through an immersive and multi-modal experience, promoting interpersonal communication through group learning and teamwork.

  • Chorus

Participating in a chorus can cultivate a child’s life-long interest in music. Choral singing promotes teamwork and collaborative skills, teaching children the art of negotiation, flexibility and adaptability. Choral singing requires students to listen carefully and maintain a high level of concentration as they prepare for performances.

Other courses may include

  • Orchestra/large ensembles
  • Instrumental lessons
  • Master classes with guest artists
  • Performance opportunities
  • Music composition and arranging
