The signing ceremony of Tanoto Foundation China’s Donation to The Tianjin Juilliard School Education Development Foundation was held at The Tianjin Juilliard School
On May 10, 2023, a signing ceremony of the Tanoto Foundation China’s Donation to the Tianjin Juilliard School Education Development Foundation was held at The Tianjin Juilliard School. In recognition of the support of Tanoto Foundation China, The Tianjin Juilliard School has named its Black Box Theater the “Tanoto Theater.”
According to the signed agreement, in the next five years, the Tanoto Foundation China will continue to donate to the Tianjin Juilliard School Education Development Foundation to support scholarships and music education programs at The Tianjin Juilliard School, Tianjin Conservatory of Music, and Tianjin Conservatory of Music Juilliard Graduate School. Some of the donations will be used to support international students to study music in China through scholarships. This will help The Tianjin Juilliard School achieve its founding purpose of providing an authentic Juilliard experience for music students from around the world.
As Juilliard’s first and only branch campus outside New York, The Tianjin Juilliard School is committed to bringing Juilliard's traditions and educational resources that has a history of more than a century to China and beyond. In just three years, we have created an international music community that has gained recognition from the global music community. The Tanoto Foundation China and The Tianjin Juilliard School share similar visions in facilitating cultural exchanges and educational development between China and the West. We hope to continue working with more partners with shared visions in the future to contribute to the development of artistic life in China, and to bridge cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

Education can transform one's life, and equitable access to education is the greatest form of equality. Supporting education has always been the core goal and direction of the Tanoto Foundation China's work. We hope that the students we support will also give back to society in the future. Music is a language that transcends borders. The Tanoto Foundation China is delighted to support the development of The Tianjin Juilliard School and hopes that more people can enjoy the beauty of music here.

Ms. Tinah Bingei unveiled the “Tanoto Theater” signage and then visited the renamed theater. Joseph W. Polisi, President Emeritus of The Juilliard School, Chief China Officer, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Tianjin Juilliard School, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Tanoto Family and the Tanoto Foundation China for their generous donations via video. Wei He presented the Letter of Appointment to Belinda Tanoto as she becomes a member of the Tianjin Juilliard School Council.
