What You Need to Know
Welcome to The Tianjin Juilliard School! We are pleased that you will be joining the Tianjin Juilliard community this fall. This webpage will provide you with important information to help you adapt to your studies at Tianjin Juilliard. All first-year students are required to attend the New Student Orientation in August 2025. During the New Student Orientation, we share information essential to your transition to graduate student life and Tianjin Juilliard. The Office of Student Development will also distribute information throughout the summer.

- All new students will receive their new email addresses and instructions to access their email in late May or early June. Once you receive your Tianjin Juilliard email, please activate the email account and check it regularly for updates.
- New students will receive several communications to their Tianjin Juilliard email during the summer. These emails will contain important information from various departments at Tianjin Juilliard regarding Orientation.
- All new international students are required to attend International Student Orientation in addition to New Student Orientation.

Deadlines
Residence Hall Housing Application Due by June 30
In mid-June, the Office of Residence Life will send detailed information to new students regarding the Residence Hall housing application process. Housing applications submitted after this date will be considered on a space-available basis.
Disability-Related Accommodations Preferred Deadline June 30
The Tianjin Juilliard School will make reasonable disability accommodations for students with disabilities. For information on the disability accommodation request process, please visit, please visit the Office of Academic Support and Disability Services (OASDS) webpage. To ensure timely accommodation for the academic year, students should submit semester requests as soon as possible, preferably by June 30. However, students can submit a request anytime during the semester. Accommodations are not retroactive.
Students in need of a disability housing accommodation should complete the housing application process and concurrently request disability accommodations by contacting OASDS via email at oasds@tianjinjuilliard.edu.cn.
Tianjin Juilliard Immunization Record Form by July 31
All students are required to receive the Measles, Mumps and Rubella Vaccines (麻风腮三联疫苗) vaccines before enrollment. Students should submit the digital copy of your immunity record documentation no later than July 31, 2025.
The proofing documentation can be one of the followings:
- a Certificate of Vaccination issued and signed by a healthcare provider; or
- a copy of signed and authorized school record; or
- the completed and signed Tianjin Juilliard Immunization Record Form

Housing
All incoming Tianjin Juilliard graduate students are encouraged to live in the Residence Hall on a bed available basis. The School cannot guarantee housing for all students as a result of limited capacity. Priorities will be given to housing assistantship recipients. All international students are required to live in the Residence Hall.
- In mid-June, the Office of Residence Life will send detailed information to new students regarding the Residence Hall housing application process.
- The housing application deadline is June 30, 2025. Housing applications submitted after this date will be considered on a space-available basis.

Information for Specific Student Populations
International Students
- All new international students are required to attend a specialized orientation from Monday, August 18, 2025 to Friday, August 22, 2025.
- A Physical Examination will be organized by OSD during Orientation.
- International students will receive specific information from Zhishan Li, Student Services Manager, regarding the Chinese visa application in late May or June.
- A Student Phone Plan is available to those students who need to apply for new Chinese SIM Card. The package rate of the plan is 39 RMB per month with 40GB data and 800 minutes domestic call time. After confirmation of joining the plan, a SIM Card will be purchased and activated under the student. More information will be sent by email in July.
- International students will be assisted to apply for a Chinese bank account before International Student Orientation starts. More information about banks, international transfer, and other relevant information will be shared on the online Town Hall in July.
Domestic Students
- New domestic students are required to attend specific sessions during International Student Orientation from Monday, August 18, 2025 to Friday, August 22, 2025, and All Student Orientation from Monday, August 25, 2025 to Friday, August 29, 2025.
- All new domestic students are required to complete the health check during the orientation organized by OSD.

How do I access my Tianjin Juilliard email?
All new students will receive their new email addresses and instructions to access their email in late May or early June. Students who are having trouble accessing their email should email helpdesk-it@tianjinjuilliard.edu.cn.
When will I receive the bill of tuition and housing fee? When will be the payment due?
The Tuition Bill will be sent on June 19 and the payment due is July 26. The Housing Bill will be sent on July 19 and the payment due is August 12. More details, please check the Student Academic Calendar 2025-2026.

Does Tianjin Juilliard provide airport/ train station pick-up service?
The office of Residence Life arranges airport pick up at designated time slots if you provide your arrival information, such as flight number, date and time, etc. The survey form will be sent in August.
I am an international student. When is the earliest time for me to start applying for the Chinese visa?
You will receive the visa application materials by the end of June or early July. Please contact Zhishan Li at zhishan.li@tianjinjuilliard.edu.cn if you have any questions regarding the visa.
As an international student, how much money should I prepare for personal and living expenses to China?
Estimated costs for living in China includes:
- Physical Examination Fee 510RMB
- Residence Permit Application Fee 800RMB
- Student Phone Plan per month 39RMB
- Meals and personal expense per month 1500-2500RMB

I have never been to China. Is there any chance I can get more information to help prepare for my trip to China?
Yes, all international students will be invited to an online Town Hall Meeting, which will cover all matters that may concern international students, such as visa application, bank account and SIM card in China, student support group, plus a few other practical items about traveling to China. The meeting will be held at the beginning of July.
When can I access the Tianjin Juilliard Building?
New students may access the Tianjin Juilliard Building upon receipt of their student ID card at Orientation check-in.
What are placement assessments, and will I need to take them?
Placement assessments are evaluation tools intended to reveal your knowledge and skill level so that you will be placed in the proper classes. Students will receive specific information about required placement assessments from Academic Affairs.
When do I register for classes?
New students will register for classes during Orientation week.
