- One slow etude and one fast etude, selected from either:

- Barret: 40 Progressive Melodies

1. Mozart Clarinet Concerto: first and second movement

2. One concert piece (or movement of sonata or concerto) of your own choice in different style

3. Orchestra excerpts 

- Beethoven Symphony No. 6

- Mendelssohn A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Scherzo: mm. 1-48

1. All major and minor scales covering the whole range up to a high C

2. Two movements in contrasting tempi from a standard concerto of the applicant’s choosing; accompaniment optional

3. One etude from Milde Studies in Scales and Chords op. 24

4. Orchestral Excerpts

- Ravel: Bolero Solo (Rehearsal 2 to 3)

- Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4 Movement II mm. 274 to end

5. Sight Reading 

1. A Solo work or movement of major concerto/sonata of the applicant's choice (for example, Böhme/Haydn/Hummel/Tomasi concerti, Brandt Concert piece No. 1 or 2, etc.) . For Haydn or Hummel concerto, please play 2nd and 3rd movements. Accompaniment optional.

2. Orchestral Excerpts  

- Mussorgsky/Ravel: Pictures - Promenade: beginning to Rehearsal 2

- Mahler: Symphony No. 5: beginning to m. 24
