Dr. Amao Wang is a contemporary classical music composer. Dr. Wang’s works have been presented at prestigious events and venues, including the 23rd Underwood New Music Readings, Aspen Music Festival, Juilliard’s Focus! Festival, the Banff Centre, NCPA Young Composers Project, Beijing Modern Music Festival. She has collaborated with the American Composers Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, China National Opera Symphony Orchestra, Alarm Will Sound, among others. Dr. Wang has performed her own chamber works at Le Poisson Rouge in New York, Hong Kong City Hall Theatre, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, and at many Chinese music institutes.  


Dr. Wang received both Master’s degree and Doctorate in Composition from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and earned her Bachelor’s degree from the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music. Dr. Wang is currently teaching composition and music theory at XingHai Conservatory of Music and The Tianjin Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division (2021-2022). Since 2022, Dr. Wang joined the Music Discovery program, where she has been encouraging students to find inspiration through the exploration of music history and various music genres, bolstering their interests to express their own voices.
