Ongoing Activities
- Tianjin Juilliard Pre-College and programs that operate under TJS Public Education, such as instrumental lessons and the community youth chorus, will resume in-person classes in Fall 2020 and will follow the recommended measures for prevention and control of COVID-19.
- The Tianjin Juilliard Pre-College fall 2021 application will be available starting on October 15th. Auditions will be held in the spring of 2021 in Tianjin, as well as at regional audition sites in Shanghai and Guangzhou. - The Tianjin Juilliard Graduate School will launch its Master of Music program in the Fall 2020. The application for fall 2021 will be available starting on September 1st. Auditions will be held in the spring of 2021 in Tianjin and New York, as well as through the option of uploading a final audition recording. Travel Restrictions and General Guidelines
The Tianjin Juilliard School is following the recommendations and measures for prevention and control of COVID-19 including travel restrictions, as provided by the Government of Tianjin Municipality and the Tianjin Municipality Education Commission as well as The Juilliard School in New York. In addition, The Juilliard School and The Tianjin Juilliard School are closely monitoring the updates issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) as well as international travel restrictions in place by airlines and countries.
School Opening in Fall and General Safety Assurance
The Tianjin Juilliard School’s new landmark campus in Binhai will open this fall. In order to ensure the safety of the entire Tianjin Juilliard community, we are in close consultation with the local and national authorities to ensure that all pandemic prevention measures are followed.
Communications
Apart from the public community updates, we remain in contact with all of our students, faculty, and staff through multiple platforms including email, video conferencing, online meetings, and more. We are in constant communication with our Pre-College students and their families to notify them on updates and dates pertaining to their academic schedules. The Office of Admissions continues to communicate closely with the incoming students to the Graduate Programs and the Pre-College, as well as with potential applicants to these programs.

Ongoing Activities

Tianjin Juilliard Pre-College will offer online lessons and classes for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester, which has been extended to June 27, 2020. This includes instrumental lessons through the Public Education Division. The Community Youth Chorus has been suspended for the Spring 2020 semester and will resume in Fall 2020.

The Pre-College admissions process for Fall 2020 entry continues to select new students to join the program.The admission process is continuing smoothly, despite the impact of COVID-19. Applicants will submit final audition recordings instead of attending a live audition.

Some regional auditions including those scheduled to take place in New York and Asia in March were cancelled. Applicants will complete their auditions remotely via video recordings. Late applications are still being accepted in certain instruments. Please contact the Office of Admissions for more details.

Tianjin Juilliard Ensemble concerts planned for in Tianjin and Beijing in April are postponed until further notice.

Reopening of Administrative Offices
On April 8, 2020, our administrative offices in Binhai began a gradual reopening process. This decision was made in consultation with our government partners and occurred only after the necessary reopening approvals were met.

A Message from The Tianjin Juilliard School: Precautionary Measures in Response to the Novel Coronavirus
In response to the current Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak, The Juilliard School and The Tianjin Juilliard School have taken immediate action to ensure the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff in China. We are following the recommendations and measures for prevention and control of 2019-nCoV, as provided by the Government of Tianjin Municipality and the Tianjin Municipality Education Commission.

All classes and activities of Tianjin Juilliard Pre-College will be postponed until further notice, including Pre-College classes, Community Youth Chorus rehearsals, and lessons through the Public Education Division.

All in-person admissions-related activities within Asia will be postponed until March 1. We anticipate resuming in-person auditions and other activities within Asia in March, depending on the developments in the 2019-nCoV. Please refer to the Admissions section of our website for updates.

Outside of the region, Graduate Studies regional auditions are anticipated to occur in New York, Paris, and San Francisco in the month of February. We plan to take preventative steps, monitor developments, and proceed in a manner that does not pose health risks.
