2025 Music Summer Camps
This summer, the Tianjin Juilliard Public Education Music Summer Camps return with a brand-new season, offering three themes—Violin, Percussion, and Piano—led by world-class faculty members. The camp is designed to provide young music learners aged 6-16 with an immersive and inspiring musical experience filled with joy and discovery.
Violin Camp: July 14-18
Led by distinguished faculty from The Tianjin Juilliard School and other institutions, and in collaboration with the Asian Youth Orchestra, the Violin Camp offers a transformative learning experience for young violinists.
Students will be grouped into levels based on their experience, receiving targeted instruction to develop technical ability, musical literacy, gain insights into stage performance, and enhance their ensemble experience through group work and choral singing.
Highlights include:
- Private instruction
- Violin master classes with distinguished guest teachers
- Ensemble coaching
- Music literacy courses
- Chorus rehearsals
- Observation of a rehearsal of the Asian Youth Orchestra
- Performance opportunities
At the end of the week, students will perform in a final concert on a Tianjin Juilliard stage showcasing both violin ensemble and choral repertoire. Upon completing the program, participants will receive a certificate issued by the Tianjin Juilliard Public Education division.
Percussion Camp: July 20-25
Led by Tianjin Juilliard percussion faculty June Hahn, this camp collaborates with Hong Kong-based ensemble Toolbox Percussion and the Asian Youth Orchestra, providing participants with a multi-dimensional experience in percussion performance and music-making.
Students will be grouped into beginner and intermediate levels based on their experience, receiving targeted instruction to develop both technical ability and musical understanding. Participants will also have the opportunity to perform at Tianjin Juilliard’s “Summer Sounds” outdoor concert series, as well as a final concert on a Tianjin Juilliard stage.
Upon completing the program, participants will receive a certificate issued by the Tianjin Juilliard Public Education division.

Piano Camp: July 28 -August 1
The Piano Camp is led by faculty from The Tianjin Juilliard School and other institutions, and features master classes with renowned pianists. Students will participate in solo instruction and chamber music coaching culminating in a final performance to showcase their progress.
The curriculum covers piano technique, ensemble skills, improvisation, keyboard instrument exploration, and performance etiquette, offering students a well-rounded exploration of piano artistry and collaborative musicianship.

- Improvisation techniques class
- Studio classes
- Introduction to chamber music
- Keyboard instrument exploration (inside the piano and harpsichord)
- Baroque dance and movement class
- Performance etiquette

- An education concert by the Asian Youth Orchestra
- Performance opportunities
Those enrolled in the Piano Camp will also receive priority to attend the Tianjin Juilliard Piano Festival as auditors.
Upon completing the program, participants will receive a certificate issued by the Tianjin Juilliard Public Education division.

One of Asia’s most influential youth orchestras, the Asian Youth Orchestra will provide an immersive orchestral experience to all campers. Students will have the opportunity to observe rehearsals side by side with the musicians, engage in a variety of instrumental exploration activities, and attend educational concerts.
Requirements
To join the 2025 Music Summer Camps, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Ages 6 to 16
- Minimum one year of instrumental study
- Submit a performance video (5 minutes maximum) with the following requirements:
- Violin: one scale across two or three octaves, and one piece of the student’s choice
- Piano: two contrasting pieces
- Percussion (Beginner Level): solo performance on any instrument
- Percussion (Intermediate Level): solo performance on any of the following instruments (or a combination), no piano accompaniment required: marimba, vibraphone, snare drum, timpani, or multi-percussion
