Wei He, the dean and artistic director of The Tianjin Juilliard School, said: “Our faculty exemplify the best of Juilliard’s values. They are world-class musicians who are passionate about ensemble playing. As it is a mixed instrument ensemble, it is possible for us to present a unique repertoire to audiences in addition to the core piano and strings chamber music literature. Many of the works performed will be premiered in China. We will commission works exploring combinations of Chinese traditional instruments and folk elements. We will also work with creative local artists in dance and drama through interdisciplinary collaborations. It is our hope that audiences will enjoy this inaugural season of performances as they embark on this extraordinary musical journey.”

Alexander Brose, the executive director and C.E.O. of The Tianjin Juilliard School, said: “The formation of the Tianjin Juilliard Ensemble is a milestone for our program and a sign of great things to come. We are looking forward to witnessing the artistry of our world-class resident faculty, who represent seven different countries, through this flagship ensemble. It is equally exciting that our graduate students will have the opportunity to work and perform alongside this stellar group of performers and pedagogues.”
