Cellist Peiyao Guo has been the recipient of international competitions and awards including Honorary Mention at the Lutoslawski Cello Com-petition, Gregor Piatigrovsky Fund, ABRSM international scholarship award, and Max Pirani Prize. As an active cellist, Guo has collaborated with Shen-zhen Symphony Orchestra, Cape Symphony Orchestra, and A Far Cry Chamber Orchestra. As a chamber musician, he has shared the stage with cellists Jian Wang and Ivan Monighetti, violist Ettore Causa, and the Han Quartet, among others. He has been invited to festivals including the Great Mountains Music Festival, Menuhin Festival, Holland Music Sessions, Tanglewood Music Festival, Liangzhu Classical Music Festival, and the Z+ Chamber Music Festival. His recent performances have taken him to prestigious venues such as the Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall, National Centre for the Performing Arts, Shangyin Opera House, Shanghai Concert Hall, and the Jiangsu Centre for the Performing Arts.
 

Apart from performing, Guo serves as a cello faculty at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and teaches at the Tianjin Juilliard Pre-College Divi-sion. He is also the first recipient of a Doctor of Musical Arts in Cello Performance from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. In 2023, he was selected to participate in the China National Arts Fund’s String Performance Talent Training Program. From 2018 to 2020, Guo held the position of Associate Principal Cello in the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he currently works as a teaching assistant at the Jian Wang and Jiwu Li Studio in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
 

In 2010, he attended the Royal Academy of Music in London with full scholarship, where he studied with David Strange. He received his master’s degree and performance diploma from New England Conservatory under Laurence Lesser and Lluis Claret. In 2023, he obtained his doctorate from Shanghai Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Professor Jiwu Li.
