Violinist Pei Li now holds the position of Director of the Orchestra Department of Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Concertmaster of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, member of the expert committee of the Shanghai Orchestra Academy, and supervisor of postgraduates at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He is a bureau member of the String Music Society and vice-chairman of the Chamber Music Society of the China Musicians Association, and   vice-director of the Violin Committee of the Shanghai Musicians Association.  

As an established artist, Li has performed all over the world. He was the Associate Concertmaster of the China Philharmonic Orchestra from 2000 to 2008. He joined the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in 2009 as Concertmaster and led the orchestra on its international tours to North and South America and Europe, and in the 3 recordings made by Deutsche Grammophon for the orchestra from 2018 to 2023.  

He also regularly presents recitals and chamber concerts. He performed Bruch’s Violin Concerto in 2011 with the China Philharmonic Orchestra and Maestro Long Yu, and also played it with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Charles Dutoit that same year. In 2021, he played Glazunov Violin Concerto with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. He also gave performance of the complete Beethoven and Brahms’ violin sonatas.  

He founded the SSO String Quartet and the album released in 2013 won warm acclaim. His recording of Beethoven Violin Sonata No.9 and Franck Violin Sonata in 2014 won the year’s “Best 10 Hifi Records” award. In 2015, he was invited to join the jury of the Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy, and the finals of the 10th “Golden Bell” Violin Competition in China. In 2022, he was invited to be a judge of the Shanghai Issac Stern International Violin Competition.
